Why a Financial Coach?
If you want help planning and managing your money wisely, a Financial Coach is a good choice for you. A Financial Coach can help you create a spending plan, help you make a plan to pay off debt, help you identify ways to increase your income and decrease expenses, help you ensure you and your family are protected with proper insurance coverages, help you work toward owning real estate that doesn't own you, and can help you with broad investment options (they will not give advice on what to invest in) to assist you in your retirement.
How does your process work?
Contact us and set up a complimentary 15-30 minute meeting to go over our process and to talk generally about your financial situation and specific areas where you feel you need coaching. If you are interested in continuing, you can choose how you would like to proceed. We are fee only Financial Coaches and offer several options for coaching sessions. In order to move forward, you will choose and pay for one of the session options, then we will send you several forms to complete. Once you complete the forms and send them back to us, we will schedule your first coaching session.
What can I expect in a session?
In the first full session we will review the forms that you sent to us and discuss your specific financial needs. After the session, we will send you a recap of what we discussed and provide a list of recommendations for you to complete based on our conversation along with recommended timelines where appropriate.
How long is a “session”?
The initial complimentary session is 20-30 minutes. All other sessions are approximately one hour in length. We will do our best to keep the session moving to ensure you are getting a good value for your investment as well to ensure we are covering ground in the topics you have identified as a focus for the coaching session.
How often do we meet with our Financial Coach?
This can be different based on your coaching needs. It may be good to have the initial first few sessions closer together (weekly/bi-weekly) if there is a crisis and then the rest of the sessions can be spaced farther apart (monthly). But again, this can be determined as we start the process and discuss your needs.
How will we communicate with our Financial Coach?
The initial session will be completed over the phone. After that, it is up to you as to how you would like to meet. We can schedule a time to meet face to face or we can conduct the session over the phone or via video conference. In order to meet face to face, we will need to be in the same city/county as you! We are located in LA (that’s Lower Alabama).
How much time will I need to devote to this process?
This one is up to you… most people spend more time planning their family vacation than they do working on their finances. It is our recommendation that you spend at least an hour each month or more (plus our time together) split up into smaller chunks to work on your monthly spending plan and other things depending on where you are now and what your goals are for your financial future.
What if we are in crisis mode?
As we discuss your financial situation, we can assist and provide feedback to help coach you through certain situations. Just keep in mind that we can’t fix anything for you. We are going to help and advise and maybe even push a little as we encourage you to move forward. We have gone through a lot ourselves and have assisted others that feel like they are stuck and don’t know where to turn, and we can help you. But you need to understand that this process is not a quick fix, it’s a slow and deliberate and intentional process that will help you move forward as long as you are ready and willing to do the work. “We don’t sell microwaves here, we sell crockpots!” Dave Ramsey.
What if we need specific services?
As we discuss your financial situation there may be times when you have specific needs. We can recommend people we know and have relationships with. We will not receive compensation as a result of recommending you to others.
Is the information we share with you confidential?
Yes. Everything we discuss is completely confidential as it pertains to your financial situation. We will not share any of your financial information with anyone.
If we are married do both spouses need to be a part of the sessions?
Yes. We will need both of you to attend to talk about what is going on and to get an understanding about where you both want to go. If you are single, we recommend getting an accountability partner and both of you attending as well if possible.
What are some topics we can expect to discuss?
Nothing is off the table... it is up to you how you want to focus in your sessions. Spending, saving, increasing income, budgeting, debt (secured and unsecured), college planning, mortgages, selling stuff, insurance, investing, long term wealth building, giving, etc. We are here to serve you and help you move forward wherever you are and wherever you want to go. Keep this in mind however, we will not allow the conversation to chase rabbits... we will push forward. So you need to be ready and willing if we together identify a pattern or a need to focus on as we help you set goals to take care of that item as we coach you.
